Why Detroit? The Heidelberg Project

The Heidelberg Project was created by artist Tyree Guyton, beginning in 1986 with his childhood home, which became known as the Dotty Wotty House. Over time, it expanded to 22 properties. However, not everyone appreciated his art, and at various times, parts have been dismantled.

The Heidelberg Project not only builds on its legacy, but supplies resources for educators.
